Mei Tong is the Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions and Strategy Walmart China. In this capacity, she leads the strategic investment strategy of Walmart China and manages the corporate mergers and acquisitions projects.
Prior to joining Walmart China, Mei has had a rich career in a diversity of corporate roles, serving her well in her new leadership role. Most recently, Mei was a Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development with PPG Industries International, Asia Pacific, a global leader in performance and industrial coatings, specialty products and services serving the construction, consumer products, industrial and transportation markets.
From 1999 to 2010, Mei was with Kimberly-Clark China for 11 years where she was Director of Corporate Development and Strategic Projects, Chief Affairs Officer, and Group Treasurer. During her time at Kimberly-Clark, she led legal and tax restructuring activities, buyouts of Chinese partnership interests, centralized management of working capitals, and developed a integrated cash flow management system. Mei also administered Kimberly Clarkâs Global Foundation for China, supporting China-related disaster relief and charitable giving. She was named one of the Most Admired Business Leaders in Charity by Chinese media in 2008.
Mei obtained an MBA from Peking University. She is also a Certified Management Accountant in Canada since 1997. Besides, Mei is completing her doctorate of Applied Social Science at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
